Reason To Blogging and How To Start It

More Power To Bloggers

The power is slipping away from many large news agencies and businesses who don’t understand, or are scared of, the Internet. So individuals now have an opportunity to carve out a niche for themselves through blogging, and compete on a level footing with the big guys. Blogging, if done well, can give you a chance to supplement your existing income, grow your business and even become a full-time blogger.

4 Reasons To Blog
  1. To establish a rapport and build relationships with your existing and potential customers.
  2. To improving your search engine ranking and reach more potential customers, which, if your website is well-designed, will translate into more business.
  3. To ensure you’re the first company people think of when they need your products or services.
  4. To showcase your expertise, professionalism and willingness to help.

Love blogging
Starting a blog can seem over-whelming at first. There’s so much to learn, with an encyclopedia of knowledge on this website alone. But don’t be scared by what you don’t know. You can learn how to blog well, and the information you need is readily available for you on this blog, in books and through workshops. Start your blog small and have fun learning how to improve it as you go along.

Four Steps To Get Started Blogging

  1. Prove your investment
Be prepared to invest 10-40 hours of your time to set up your blog with your branding, and get to know your way round your blogging software. Or consider paying an expert to set up a blog for you for $1000-2000, so you can concentrate on creating content.
  2. Get writing
Just start brainstorming for ideas and writing useful and positive articles. Once you start writing on one topic sometimes you’ll slip off on a tangent and discover another subject worth sharing.
  3. Spread the word
Email your existing clients, leads, friends and relatives and tell them about your new blog. Add your website and blog address to all your new print materials and your email signature.
  4. Ask for feedback
Get people to tell you what they like and don’t like about your blog. When you’ve got a new website or blog, you’re constantly tweaking it and striving to improve it. That’s perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed of. Expect it to take a while to be perfect and congratulate yourself on having started your blog.

Using Blogger Or WordPress

There are dozens of great hosted blogging solutions available like TypePad, Live Journal and Blog. Though for most people the choice comes down to either Blogger or WordPress, which are by far the most popular hosted blogging services available today.
In this guide I will look at the pros and cons of each service, which I hope will help you make and informed decision about which platform to use.

Blogger

BloggerBlogger was founded in 1999 by Pyra Labs, a company which was co-founded by Twitter creator Evan Williams. It was later acquired by Google in 2003.
One of the pioneers of the blogging medium, Blogger has long been the choice of blogging newbies. It’s incredibly easy to setup yet offers a lot of freedom and flexibility that other hosted services do not.
All blogger blogs have a small banner at the top of the page which is about 30 pixels high. This banner lets search the blog you are on, flag the blog for a violation, visit the next blogger blog and sign in. Unfortunately, this banner can not be removed however the rest of the page is not changed in any way by Google.

Blogger Banner
Pros:
  • Full Control over your blogs template design.
  • Advertisements and affiliate banners are permitted.
  • Can use your own domain name for free.
Cons:
  • Beginners may find customising the blogger design very difficult.
  • Need to use a 3rd party script for a contact form (which is why many ‘Blogger users display their email instead).
  • Limited number of plugins and widgets available.
I have also hear many people claim that because Blogger is owned by Google, Blogger blogs appear much higher in the search engines that blogs using other platforms. I have yet to see concrete evidence of this myself and advise you to take any such claim with a pinch of salt.
You can find out more at Blogger.com

WordPress

WordPressThe WordPress hosted service (not to be confused with their popular self hosting blogging script) is a simple yet elegant blogging service which is favoured by many authors and professionals.
Unlike Blogger, you cannot edit CSS code of your blogs design. However, there are thousands of free themes to choose from, many of which let you choose the colour of your blog design. You can also easily customise your sidebar and footer using widgets (plugins which offer more features and customisation). You can also choose a wordpress free feature upgrade to modify your css code for $14.97 a year.
WordPress also offer a VIP Hosting for blogs with a lot of traffic. This is used by many top blogs like Top Gear and the NFL.
Pros:
  • Lets you easily create static pages.
  • Very easy to add a contact form to your blog.
  • Has a built in trackback system/
  • A better comment system than Blogger.
  • A huge number of themes and widgets available to bloggers.
Cons:
  • Cannot modify blogs CSS stylesheet.
  • Cannot add 3rd party tracking scripts like Google Analytics. However, WordPress does provide it’s own stats and they are more than sufficient for most people.
  • No advertisements are allowed on WordPress.com blogs.
  • WordPress occasionally show small text advertisements in order to cover server costs. This can be removed with a premium upgrade.
  • It costs $9.97 a year to use an existing domain name you own or $14.97 to register your domain with them.
You can find out more at WordPress.com. WordPress also have a good comparison between WordPress.org and WordPress.com at Get.WP.com.(bloggingtips.com)

Commenting to

commentingAdding value to the post to attract people to drop their comment.People who read blogs are for the most part bloggers themselves, which means they understand "blogging games". They tend to congregate within a specific niche or content arena, which is the wheelhouse of your strategic commenting opportunity.

The right audience is there, in the right place, waiting. It’s up to you to carry the right tune once you step on stage.

Because not everyone is there to propagate a self-serving agenda. Many read blogs with a genuine interest and desire to learn. Which is why the nature of your comments have inherent and significant potential.

If you sound like someone who has something to offer, and if you come off as humble and pleasant and sincere, chances are the earnest blog reader – which is precisely the person you want to attract to your site – will click through to you.

And even with the best of results, you’ll only snag a few. It’s a long term strategy, one littered with the remains of tortoise-like commenters who yielded to impatience.

Avoid the “hey nice post” Comments

Someone walks into a party. They look nice. You tell them they look nice. You comment.

This feels good on the receiving end, too. You notice. But that’s all that you do. It isn’t enough to get the polite commenter a first date.

It isn’t enough to post a “Nice post, dude!” comment and expect anyone to click through to your site.

It isn’t a bad thing. It may even be a polite thing. Go for it if “nice post” is what you need to express. Just don’t mistake it for a blogging growth strategy. Because for networking bloggers, “nice post” translates to: not a player.

Don’t Come Off as Overly Contrary
Some people like attention, and to get it they sometimes begin breaking things. A few like to take a contrary position on just about everything, and by airing it out in a comment (going back to our analogy for a moment), it becomes the lamest strategy imaginable for getting asked back or attracting any type of attention other than negative energy.

You can take a stand, but pretend it’s your soon-to-father in law you’re challenging. Be polite, look for ways to be gracious and acknowledge whatever aspect of your target isn’t reprehensible to you.

Everybody likes a self-thinker and a bold advocate. Nobody likes an asshole.(Bloggingtips.com)

  1. Make a link to other blogs. Especially to the hight traffic blog which has the similar topics with yours.

  3. Give a comment to make a relationship. Don’t comment only due to business needed, but give a relax comment, just like talking to your friends.
  4. Allow trackback and link at comment box. One of many reasons to left a comment is to build and to get back link.
  5. Make a review about other blog. The owner of the blog that you reviewd will be very glad. So that, they will visit your blog and drop you comments, to express their thank.

Turn Off Your Administrator Account

For the "criminal brain" guy, Administrator account is the most targeted subject, due to it's full authority  to do anything inside a computer system. Beside that reason, the usage  "administrator" as a common user name for the admin account also caused a bad guy easier to break and control admin account.

One of many ways to avoid cracking admin account is by turn off the account. After inactivation the administrator account, if there is some body try to login using administator user name, a warning will be displayed: “Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator.” and login process will be terminated.

By the way, how to turn off the administrator account in Windows? Let's follow the steps below :

1. Click on [Start] > [Control Panel] > [System and Maintenance] > [Administrative Tools] > [Local Security Policy].
2. After
Local Security Policy window has been opened, come in to the Security Settings-Local Policies-Security Options.
3. Then, look for policy Accounts:
Administrator account status.
4. Double click at the policy and then
choose Disabled.
5. Close the dialogue box by clicking
[OK] and also close the Local Security Policy window.

If you have done the above trick rightly, the administrator account in your computer will be unaccessible. But remember, before you turn off the account, ensure yourself that you have
minimum one account using other user name that has administrator authority.

Security Tips During Idul Fitri Holiday

Muslims around the world will soon celebrate Idul Fitri as the fasting month of Ramadhan comes to an end. For Muslims in Indonesia, Idul Fitri is traditionally a time when many people travel to their hometowns to reunite with families and friends (mudik). The Jakarta Land Transportation Agency estimates some 1.9 million vehicles, including cars and busses will be involved in this year’s mudik and about 1.5 million motorcycles will be leaving Jakarta for towns in West, Central and East Java.
National Police say a total of 100,000 personnel will be deployed for 'Operation Ketupat' to ensure security during the Idul Fitri holiday as well as being posted at recreation places, terminals, stations, airports and ports. Risks from crime during this time, especially burglary, pickpockets and bag snatchers will increase. There had been past cases of criminals drugging their victims with laced food or drinks before robbing them.
Here are some security tips that may help prevent you being targeted by criminals during this year’s ‘mudik’.

If you are planning for ‘mudik’:
  1. Make sure you have a contact point for your local neighborhood official (Ketua RT) and, if possible, local security personnel and advise them if you are leaving your home unattended during the holiday so that arrangements can be made for local security personnel to keep an eye on your residence and collect any mail.
  2. Consider leaving a copy of your travel itinerary with a trusted family friend or relative.
  3. Never leave your house key hidden outside under a doormat, in a flower pot, or on the ledge of a door.
  4. Make sure the lights are turned on by nightfall.
  5. If you are leaving the city;

Using private car:
·               Be prepared for extremely crowded conditions on the roads.
·               Do not drive on the emergency lane on toll roads.
·               Driver fatigue is a factor that can cause road fatalities, so make sure you take regular breaks on long trips - ideally 15 minutes every 2 hours.
·               Select well-traveled streets as much as possible.
·               Never pick up hitchhikers.
·               Be constantly alert to road conditions and surroundings.
·               Never carry large amounts of cash.

Using motorcycle:
·               Conduct safety inspection of your motorcycle before each ride.
·               Wear appropriate gear and protection.
·               Wear bright clothing and if possible use retroreflective material at night time.
·               Be awake, fatigue can impair motorcyclist’s ability to react.
·               When riding in a group, determine your route in advanced and coordinate it with other riders.
·               Don’t speed; know local traffic laws and rules of the road.
·               Show courtesy and respect to other drivers.

Using public transportation;
·               Do not wear expensive jewelry.
·               Be alert of your surroundings and people around you. Criminals such as pickpocket and other petty thieves may target you if you are not alert and aware.
·               Never accept foods or drinks from people you’ve just met.
·               If you are leaving the city by air, Allow extra time for check-in since airports will be crowded.
If you are staying at home during the holiday period:
  1. Make sure that all gates and entrances to your residence are securely locked with high-quality locks both while you are at home and while out.
  2. If you receive unexpected callers, do not approach them or leave the house to meet them if there is any likelihood that they are armed. Do not open the gates to allow them to enter until you are perfectly sure that you can trust them. If you do not know them or have no reason to allow them into the grounds of your residence, lock all doors and windows securely and immediately contact your local security personnel.
However, before leaving your office, please make sure you follow these simple instructions:
Look, Lock and Leave:
  1. Look thoroughly at your workplace; ensure you do not leave any valuable personal belongings behind.
  2. If there are still important documents/valuable company properties, make sure you lock them all in a secure cabinet.
  3. Unplug all electrical appliances (computers, etc).
  4. Remember the locations of items in your workplace, so that upon returning from holiday you can notice if something has been moved while you are away.
Have a pleasant holiday & Happy Idul Fitri 1430 Hijriah..!

Duplicate Content

Google Webmaster said about Duplicate Content :
Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar. Mostly, this is not deceptive in origin. Examples of non-malicious duplicate content could include:
  • Discussion forums that can generate both regular and stripped-down pages targeted at mobile devices
  • Store items shown or linked via multiple distinct URLs
  • Printer-only versions of web pages
Bla..bla..bla...click here for more..!
But, there are so many theories about The Duplicate Content, and possible penalties for using the same content in more than one place in the same Blog or Site. But most of the theories are 100% unproved.
If you are still curious about it, just click here.

We should realized that basically, Google wants to offer us a wide variety of results for any given search result. If our blog post is not already ranked in the top 10 results for a specific keyword phrase, we can easily achieve an “indirect” top ranking by submitting the post to EzineArticles.com as an article with a keyword rich article title.(Problogger.net

Online Scam Tactics

online scamMost scams play upon basic human qualities that everyone has to some degree. Many of these qualities are not very flattering. They include traits like fear, vanity and greed. Con artists have leveraged these traits for hundreds of years -- play upon a person's greed and you can convince them up is down and cold is hot.

That also means that most online scams have a few clear indicators. If you receive a message or visit a site that says you are in danger unless you download a certain application, that's a red flag for a scam. The message is playing upon your fear. Of course, you don't want to have your computer overrun with viruses. But often these applications are masking a virus or other form of malware. Always view these messages with skepticism and caution. Research any application before you download and install it.

Most of us would like to think we're not vain creatures. But imagine you're on a social networking site and you receive a message containing a hyperlink that says something like, "You won't believe how great you look in this video!" Most of us would be tempted to follow the link and watch the video, particularly if we were worried it might be embarrassing. With so many people and organizations on social networking sites, you never know who could be watching.

Scam artists know that people are concerned with their online image. That's why they use messages like the one above to direct people to a bogus video site. In many cases, attempting to play the video prompts a pop-up window to appear. The window claims the user doesn't have the right video driver installed to view the video. It prompts the user to download a driver and then the video will (supposedly) play. However, the driver turns out to be malware in disguise.

Some malware can can do pretty nasty stuff if you install it on your computer. A keylogging application could keep track of every keystroke you make and send that information to a remote scam artist. The scam artist can then comb through your keystrokes and find out private information like user names and passwords to the sites you visit, including banking or shopping sites. Others might give root access of your machine to a remote cracker -- a malicious hacker. The cracker can then control your computer and you might never even notice.

Is it a scam?

Out of all the base human traits scam artists prey upon, greed may be the one they target most. These scams tend to follow the pattern of promising a huge payoff for a relatively small investment. It's the old "something for nothing" approach. Many scam artists use e-mail to spread the con around. This allows the con artist to send out hundreds of thousands -- or even millions -- of e-mail messages to potential victims. Even if the success rate is a fraction of that number, the payoff for the scam artist can be huge.

When you see an offer online, really take some time to think it through. A little critical thinking can often save you money and frustration. Don't rely on the links or testimonials attached to the offer itself. Search around elsewhere for independent verification that the offer is valid. Some may be genuine offers, while others may try to lure you into a pyramid scheme or pump-and-dump scam.

Some common indicators of scams include:
  • A call for urgency such as, "You must act now!"
  • A promise of huge profits in a short timeframe
  • Overuse of buzzwords and jargon
  • Claims of insider information or confidential data
Scam artists will try to leverage anything to convince you to hand over money. Recently, some scam artists have even claimed to represent the United States government. The scam artists send messages to potential victims claiming to offer a portion of the economic stimulus package to help them out during the recession [source: Hruska].

Some potential victims have turned the tables on the scam artists. A Web site called 419 Eater urges people who have encountered scams to return the favor with scambaiting. The site defines scambaiting as luring scam artists into drawn-out correspondence in an effort to waste their time and resources. Some have gone so far as to convince the scam artists to travel halfway across the world or even carve a replica of a Commodore 64 computer out of wood! It turns out scam artists are just as vulnerable to greed as their victims.

Stay on alert, don't believe everything you read and always think before you click. To learn more about scams, take a look at the links on the next page.
